Any person who has a disability causing a permanent total or partial failure of physical, mental, sensorial, motor or psychological ability or any other inability to fulfil their own requirements in conditions where people without a disability are able to fulfil.
The authority performs a number of tasks including:
• Assigning the roles of related parties
• Developing policies, strategies, programs, plans and tools.
• Empowering the status of people with disabilities in society.
• Raising the level of services, needs and requirements for people with disabilities.
• Defining the quality indicators and measurements of services
The authority does not provide direct services, but supports the services provided by related parties to ensure that people with disabilities are given their full rights. It also raises the level of their protection and takes the necessary actions in coordination with the related parties.
The Authority develops the policies, procedures and standards for organisations to support people with disabilities when those entities apply for services including public transportation and carparking for example, as well as the timings for providing those services and ease of applying them. In case of a disabled person wishing to avail of the services provided by the entity, they can be shown the conditions for availing of such a service.
