What is Autism?

Autism: A neurological disorder that impacts development, commences in the early stages of childhood, and persists throughout a person's life. The autism spectrum affects the brain's data processing process, which in turn influences the way someone behaves and interacts with others.

While the causes of autism remain unclear, current research suggests there is a correlation between the disorder and genetic, hereditary, and environmental factors.

The Most Notable Symptoms of Autism:
Unusual behaviors.
Non-participation in certain activities.
Difficulty with reciprocal social interactions.
Very specific interests (such as numbers).
Delayed response when addressed by their names.
Trouble understanding the actions of others.

Data and Statistics on Autism:

One child in every 160 is diagnosed with autism.
Males are afflicted at a rate that is four times greater than that of females.
