The Authority of People with Disabilities has announced the launch date of the "Purple Saturday" initiative, which will take place on the last Saturday of July, corresponding to July 25, 2026. The initiative aims to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities and empower their social participation by offering dedicated discounts, reductions, and special offers, raising private sector awareness of their needs, and taking the necessary steps to make stores and services accessible to people with various disabilities.
The "Purple Saturday" initiative was first launched by the Authority of People with Disabilities in the Kingdom in 2021 and has been held annually on the last Saturday of July ever since, entering its sixth consecutive edition this year.
The initiative has achieved growing success over the past years, with the participation of a large number of companies and brands from across the Kingdom's regions. This year, the Authority looks forward to expanding the scope of participation to include more entities and sectors.
As part of efforts to encourage participation and highlight outstanding contributions, the Authority is pleased to announce the launch of this year's Purple Saturday Award, in recognition of the entities and individuals who have excelled in supporting the initiative and advancing its objectives. The Award covers the following categories: Best Commercial Offer, Best Initiative Event, Non-Profit Sector Initiative, and Coverage of Persons with Disabilities. Those wishing to register for the initiative and learn more about its details can visit the website: https://apd.gov.sa/ps-registration.
The Authority of People with Disabilities emphasizes the importance of participating in this initiative as part of social responsibility and in support of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seek to integrate persons with disabilities into society, enhance the services provided to them, and raise community awareness about disability—working toward an inclusive, empowered society with equal opportunities for all.
