Chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, Eng. Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi, the twenty-ninth meeting of the Council was held at the Authority’s headquarters, where a number of topics related to the Authority and persons with disabilities were discussed, including following up on what has been achieved with various sectors to remove the challenges facing persons with disabilities, and reviewing the most prominent possible efforts to enhance and empower persons with disabilities in various fields. The Council also followed up on the progress of work on linking government agencies to the electronic national registry for persons with disabilities, which aims to facilitate access to information and data necessary to enhance the services provided to them, and facilitate their exchange between various government agencies. The formation of a committee to look into violations of the provisions of the Persons with Disabilities Rights System was also approved, with the aim of raising awareness and implementing the system in a way that contributes to protecting the rights of persons with disabilities in the Kingdom. The Council reviewed the local and international participations of the Authority, which aim to enhance integration of roles and partnerships in areas concerned with improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities and supporting their rights. It is noteworthy that the Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities is the official body and the comprehensive umbrella for everything related to disability issues in the Kingdom, and works to enhance the services provided to them to reach a society with equal opportunities and empowerment for all, which allows persons with disabilities to engage effectively in various aspects of social and economic life.
