The Authority of People with Disability (APD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Red Sea Authority aimed at enhancing services provided for people with disabilities and supporting equal opportunities and empowerment across various fields.
The memorandum was signed by Dr. Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Haidari, CEO of the Authority of People with Disability, and Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Nasser, CEO of the Red Sea Authority.
The MoU aims to align the strategies of both entities to plan and implement joint initiatives that contribute to achieving their goals and support the comprehensive empowerment of people with disabilities.
The MoU also includes enhancing the exchange of expertise and knowledge to develop services and ensure the integration of efforts between the two entities. As part of improving accessibility, the agreement focuses on aligning both physical and non-physical environments, including the development of accessible digital content for people with hearing and visual disabilities, to achieve greater inclusivity in services.
The agreement also includes establishing the necessary regulations and standards for providing services in maritime and navigation activities, ensuring that people with disabilities can benefit from them safely and effectively. The MoU also addresses cooperation in media and advertising activities, as well as participation in related events and conferences, with the aim of raising awareness about the role of people with disabilities and the importance of their empowerment.
This MoU is part of the ongoing efforts to achieve Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which seeks to empower all segments of society and create an inclusive environment that provides opportunities for all.
It is worth noting that the Authority of People with Disability has signed several memoranda of understanding and agreements with various sectors to ensure that people with disabilities have access to all services, enhance prevention and empowerment, and improve the services provided to them, thereby ensuring equal opportunities and supporting their full integration into society.
