The CEO of the Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Hisham Al-Haidari, stressed during the opening speech of the Arab delegations during the symposium “Responding to the needs of persons with disabilities in crises and epidemics”, which was held in Cairo on 15-16 March 2022, that the entire Arab world is in a phase of good recovery as we emerge from the corona virus - Covid 19 – pandemic. What is being done by Arab countries has greatly affected this phase in terms of empowerment, comprehensive participation of people with disabilities, recovery from epidemics and disease prevention, and the comprehensiveness of all programs offered to citizens and their alignment with the Convention of the rights of persons with disabilities (CRPD).

He also noted the need to change the methods of dealing with disasters and crises and bring them in line with the current situation. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia chairs the 41st session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, and the holding of this symposium is an extension of the efforts made by the League of Arab States to empower people with disabilities and raise the level of prevention and care.
