The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority of People with Disability, Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, issued a circular to government entities to implement the standards of comprehensive access guides according to the simplified guideline and to give the government entities a six-month period to activate it. This represents an extension of the attention that the government pays to support and care for people with disabilities and to ensure that they obtain their rights and integrate into the labor market and society, given that integration in this aspect is one of the main pillars of their independence. It is noteworthy that the Authority of People with Disability, in coordination with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, has formed several committees of technicians and jurists to implement the comprehensive access program in public and private facilities in order to be adapted to the needs of people with disabilities as well as to give a deadline of three months to correct their situation. The APD has also prepared, in cooperation with King Salman Center for Disability Research, a simplified guideline for the application of these standards which aims at explaining the comprehensive access guides to facilitate its application in a manner that does not conflict with the Saudi Building Code.
