Saudi Arabia Showcases "Déjà Vu" at the 7th Gulf Theatre Festival in Qatar

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the 7th Gulf Theatre Festival for People with Disabilities in Qatar with the theatrical performance "Déjà Vu." The festival, held from November 27 to December 3, 2024, was under the supervision of the Authority of People with Disability (APD) and the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, with the execution by the "Swaed" Association for Physical Disability. This participation demonstrates Saudi Arabia's dedication to empowering people with disabilities and promoting their inclusion in cultural and artistic spheres.

Saudi Arabia presented its theatrical performance titled "Déjà Vu," a social and comedic artistic work conceived by Khaled Al-Hajri, written and supervised by Asaad Al-Alaily, and directed by Faisal Abdullah. The play revolves around a person who finds himself in a society fully equipped for people with disabilities. It addresses, in an engaging manner, the challenges faced by people with mobility disabilities, while delivering awareness messages on the importance of creating accessible physical and social environments to foster inclusion. The play also featured interactive performance scenes that added a creative and aesthetic touch.

The performance stood out with the participation of a talented group of actors with disabilities, including Muteb Al-Dosari, Hilal Al-Kaabi, and Thamer Al-Khalidi, along with Yahya Al-Maqadi, Salman Al-Qa'id, and Mohammed Mahwash. This showcased the Saudi Arabia’s commitment to highlighting the diversity of disabilities and emphasizing the creative abilities of people with disabilities in the theatrical arts.

This participation is part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts to enhance accessibility for people with disabilities by implementing reasonable accommodation in both technical and cultural environments, ensuring the participation of all without exception. These efforts emphasize Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 in empowering people with disabilities to achieve their ambitions and showcase their talents across various fields.

It is worth noting that the previous edition was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and included a number of cultural and social theatrical performances from the Gulf Cooperation Council delegations. The event also highlighted the talents of people with disabilities on the sidelines of the theater festival, underscoring the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to showcasing the diversity of these talents and enhancing their presence at cultural events
