Today, Monday, Muharram 20, 1445 AH, corresponding to August 7, 2023, AD, the Authority of People with Disability (APD) and the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) in Riyadh. It seeks to strengthen joint coordination in the field of statistical data, which contributes to providing data and information and enhancing the quality of services provided to individuals with disabilities and their access to the necessary care and rehabilitation. Dr. Hisham bin Muhammad Al-Haidari, CEO of the APD, and Dr. Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Dosari, President of the GASTAT, signed the MoC on behalf of their respective organizations.
The purpose of the agreement is to strengthen the role of integration between the two parties in attaining the Vision 2030 objectives of the Kingdom. This will be accomplished through the exchange of official statistics pertaining to individuals with disabilities. The APD seeks to integrate efforts to achieve the desired joint work in improving statistical products for such a group, as well as providing technical support to the APD in the statistical aspects of dealing with and exchanging data and information, issuing reports and bulletins, and monitoring social variables for individuals with disabilities.
Notable is that the APD aspires to be the umbrella organization for all issues pertaining to people with disabilities, granting them full rights, empowering them through cooperation with different entities, and enhancing their participation in various development programs. It also seeks to ensure that they obtain their disability-related rights and contribute to enhancing their independence and empowerment through their involvement in a variety of activities and their full participation in all aspects of life to achieve a comprehensive and harmonious society.
