The Authority for Persons with Disability and the General Authority of Civil Aviation signed today at the APD headquarters in Riyadh a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening coordination between the two parties, as well as developing and aligning the relevant regulatory and legislative frameworks related to persons with disability and persons with limited mobility, and improving their experience in the aviation sector—thereby contributing to providing an inclusive, well-aligned travel journey. In signing the memorandum, the Authority for Persons with Disability was represented by His Excellency the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Hisham bin Muhammad Al-Haydhari. Meanwhile, the General Authority of Civil Aviation was represented by His Excellency the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Quality and Customer Experience, Engineer Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Dahmash. The memorandum includes cooperation in improving the travel experience for passengers with disabilities and persons with limited mobility across various stages of the travel journey, exchanging data and building a supportive knowledge ecosystem. It also covers capacity building, developing competencies, providing technical and specialized consultations, and cooperating on establishing a joint mechanism to monitor related violations. The memorandum comes within the framework of the two parties’ commitment to enhancing integration and developing related services and practices for persons with disability—taking into account their needs and strengthening the ease of access to and benefits from air transport services. As an umbrella organization for all matters related to persons with disability, the Authority for Persons with Disability works to support their empowerment, enhance their rights, and raise the quality of the services provided to them. This contributes to building an inclusive and integrated society in which opportunities are equal for persons with disability, in line with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030.
