Article 26 of the Basic Law of Governance stipulates that "The State shall protect human rights in accordance with the Sharia." This provision promotes the concepts of justice and equality, as well as the prohibition of all forms of discrimination, including discrimination on the basis of disability. Article 27 of the Basic Law of Governance stipulates that "The State shall guarantee the rights of the citizens and their families in cases of emergency, illness, disability, and old age. The State shall support the Social Insurance Law and encourage organizations and individuals to participate in philanthropic activities."
The Law of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which was regulated by Resolution No. 110 of the Council of Ministers dated 06\02\1445H, includes: definitions and general principles, the objectives of the law, rights and services, social and economic support, penalties and violations, prohibitions pertaining to government agencies, consideration committees, and the abolition of the Disability Welfare Law (1421H).
