The Authority of People with Disability Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the General Commission for Audiovisual Media to Enhance Media Services for People with Disabilities

The General Commission for Audiovisual Media and the Authority of People with Disabilities signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in developing and improving services provided to people with disabilities in various media fields.

The memorandum stipulates motivating the media outlets to provide what serves people with disabilities as well as to adapt the content to the sensory disabilities.

It also includes cooperation in regards of coordination with cinemas to provide awareness advertising services discounts for people with disabilities through cinema screens. Moreover, coordinating communication with the relevant entities to develop workshops that serve people with disabilities in the fields of media.

The memorandum includes participation in raising the society's awareness of the rights of people with disabilities by publishing information about ways of dealing and communicating with them through media, using the official title for people with disabilities. Moreover, participating in reports and research that concern them locally and internationally and applying best practices that serve them, which falls under the General Commission for Audiovisual Media.

The memorandum was signed by the CEO of the General Commission for Audiovisual Media, Eng. Israa Asiri and the CEO of Authority of People with Disability, Dr. Hisham AlHaidary.

 

The Authority of People with Disability aims to ensure that people with disabilities obtain their rights, enhance the services provided to them, and issue guidelines, policies, programs and strategies aimed at empowering them to reach an inclusive and adaptive society.
