The delegation of the Authority of People with Disability (APD) participated in the proceedings of the dialogue workshop on empowering people with disabilities in the Governorate of Dhofar in the Sultanate of Oman. The APD participated in the dialogue sessions that included many topics such as the employment of people with disabilities, the creation of the work environment, and reviewing the role of Saudi Arabia in promoting the integration of people with disabilities in the labor market and society.
Reportedly, the dialogue workshop included many topics in which representatives of the sectors of people with disabilities in the GCC countries participated. All recommendations were submitted to the General Secretariat in order to develop clear policies that enable people with disabilities to participate actively in societies. The workshop lasted for two days and focused on several topics that were discussed by the attendees. The workshops included four main topics which are: community partnership and its role in empowering people with disabilities in the Gulf labor market, aspirations regarding the work of women with disabilities in the GCC countries, the 2030 sustainable development goals regarding the empowerment of people with disabilities in the Gulf labor market, as well as habilitation and rehabilitation for people with disabilities in the work environment for further integration into the labor market.
