Today, January 30, 2024, the Authority of People with Disability (APD) Board of Directors (BOD) has called for its 23rd virtual meeting under the leadership of Eng. Ahmad bin Suliman Al-Rajh, board chair and Minister of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD). The meeting included discussions with the Minister of Hajj and Umrah (MHU), Dr. Tawfeeq Ibn Fouzan Al-Rabiah, concerning the initiatives undertaken within the MHU to assist individuals with disabilities. Furthermore, proposals were examined to enhance and improve the endeavors of the Ministry.
In addition to coordinating work teams between the APD and the MHU and developing satisfaction metrics pertaining to the experience of individuals with disabilities during hajj and umrah, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah and the APD Board of Directors reached an agreement regarding the continuation of joint efforts to overcome the obstacles encountered by individuals with disabilities during hajj and umrah.
Furthermore, the Board of Directors examined the APD's fiscal report for 2023 and deliberated on its most notable accomplishments from the previous year, as well as its outlook for 2024 with regard to highlighting initiatives that improve the quality of life across multiple sectors for individuals with disabilities.
It is worth noting that the APD functions as an umbrella organization for all matters pertaining to individuals with disabilities, granting them full rights and empowering them. In addition, building an integrated institutional ecosystem to eliminate barriers and ensure nondiscrimination against individuals with disabilities, providing the necessary means of prevention, care, and rehabilitation, and fully integrating them in all aspects of life.
