His Excellency Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) and Chairman of the Board of Directors (BoD) of the Authority of People with Disability (APD), chaired the twenty-sixth BoD meeting. The meeting was attended by leaders of the social development sector in the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. During the meeting, the board members discussed a number of topics, including the development and improvement of rehabilitation and support services, as well as social programs provided to individuals with disabilities.
Additionally, the meeting encompassed discussions on the employment of individuals with disabilities, the review of pertinent legislation and succession plans for employees with disabilities, and the review of binding legislation and incentive programs for the private sector with the participation of labor and civil service sector leaders.
The BoD also deliberated on the public feedback received from the Public Consultation Platform (Istitlaa) regarding the draft implementing regulations for the Law of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
In addition, the APD's efforts to enhance the quality of life of individuals with disabilities, including initiatives, projects, and activities for the first quarter of fiscal year 2024, were reviewed. Further consideration was given to devising strategies to empower these individuals and guarantee their access to services offered by various sectors.
Notably, in an effort to foster an inclusive and harmonious society, the Authority of People with Disability is striving to improve the services offered to individuals with disabilities across multiple sectors, remove the barriers they encounter, and raise awareness about disabilities.
